The final stage and awarding of the winners of the engineering competition "The Future of Aviation", organized by the United Aircraft Corporation (PJSC UAC), took place. The competition is held to involve students and young professionals in design and research activities, and to share best practices. In addition, the event helps to identify promising technologies and projects that can contribute to solving ambitious tasks for the development of the Russian aircraft industry.
This year, more than 600 applications from students and young professionals have been received for participation in the competition. Projects could be submitted in ten areas, including digital technologies, advanced design and production technologies, flight research and testing, and production technologies.
Eight teams reached the final of the competition. Among them are not only young specialists of UAC enterprises, but also representatives of Rostec State Corporation holdings and specialized universities. The finalists presented their projects and developments at the face-to-face stage and demonstrated the intermediate results of their implementation.
Yuri Slyusar, General Director of PJSC UAC, congratulated the participants of the competition and presented diplomas to the winners. He noted that all projects were created to solve practical production and design tasks and are linked to real work processes.
"Our employees are our main asset. Therefore, we strive to create conditions for professional development, implementation of engineering projects and technological initiatives. The Future of Aviation competition has been held for the eighth time, and during this time more than 10 thousand young specialists and students have participated in it. They presented more than 1300 projects to the experts of the competition, and these are the heads and chief designers of factories and design bureaus. Most of them have been implemented or modified for use in real production or as design solutions. Thanks to their participation in the competition, many children have received opportunities for professional and career growth," said Yuri Slyusar, General Director of PJSC UAC.
The winner of the competition "The Future of Aviation" was Valentina Nikitin, a software engineer at the branch of PJSC UAC - KnAAZ named after Yu.A. Gagarin. The participant presented the project "Application of augmented reality technology during general technical inspection". Valentina, as part of the initiative group at the enterprise, is engaged in the implementation of AR technologies at the stage of quality control of finished products. This makes it possible to simplify the work of supervisors and reduce labor costs.
The second place was taken by employees of PJSC Yakovlev. Alexey Deriglazov, Head of the durability and survivability calculation team, and Dmitry Melnikov, a design engineer, presented a methodology for automated calculation of fatigue strength. Their project was recognized as the best in the field of "Digital technologies".
The project of representatives of the Russian Helicopters holding "Designing equipment for molding aviation glazing from Plexiglass" took the third place. In the final, he was defended by Maxim Shatov, a design engineer at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.
The winners of the competition also received cash prizes – 500, 300 and 200 thousand rubles for the first, second and third places, respectively. The projects of the finalists of the competition – employees of the enterprises of PJSC UAC, including those who did not take prizes, will also be recommended and supported for implementation.
