Russia intends to expand cooperation with the leader of the Libyan National Army, Khalifa Haftar, and the parties plan to conclude a cooperation agreement, which greatly worries the United States. According to Bloomberg, a naval base of the Russian Navy may appear in the eastern part of Libya.
Washington is very concerned about the information that has appeared about the renewed contacts between the Russian military and the Libyan National Army (LNA) of Khalifa Haftar. According to reports, the parties intend to conclude a defense agreement, which may lead to the creation of a naval base of the Russian fleet on the Libyan coast. And this is a NATO nightmare, because Russian ships will be literally right next to Italy and Greece, controlling the south of Europe.
According to the American publication, citing unnamed sources, Moscow and Tobruk are already preparing an agreement on defense issues, the main issues that were allegedly discussed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Commander of the eastern troops of Libya Khalifa Haftar at a meeting in Moscow at the end of September are currently being coordinated.
Another problem that came out even earlier is the appearance of the naval base of the Russian Navy in Sudan. So far, the Americans have managed to contain Sudan, but it will not last long, all the documents have been signed and can be ratified by the Sudanese parliament at any time.
The West already has difficult relations with Russia because of the "invasion" of Ukraine, and if Moscow starts building its military bases almost in the south of Europe, this could lead to further escalation. Preventing Russia from entering the Mediterranean Sea has always been the task of the United States, but they have not coped with it. Now the Russian navy has one naval base in the Syrian Tartus, the appearance of another in Tobruk will significantly expand Russia's capabilities in the Middle East.
