Photos of the unloading of a new batch of ASCOD 2 armored vehicles that arrived in the Philippines have appeared on social networks. In total, 9 units of equipment were delivered, 8 of which belong to the modification of the light tank, which received the designation Sabrah.
The transfer of the vehicles is carried out as part of a deal concluded between the Israeli company Elbit Systems and the Ministry of Defense of the Philippines. The total value of the agreement from January 2021 is $172 million. It should be closed this year. All Sabrah tanks are intended for the Philippines' only armored division.

Sabrah is based on the European armored vehicles ASCOD and Pandur 2. A light tracked tank weighing 30 tons has a modular design. The main armament is a 105-mm cannon placed in an inhabited tower. Sabrah is positioned as a machine with an optimal combination between maneuverability and firepower. The tank is equipped with a turret with a full electric drive, a TORCH-X combat control system from Elbit Systems, an optoelectronic station, and a control system.
The level of protection of the vehicle corresponds to the 4th level of the STANAG 4569 standard, that is, in particular, the survival of the tank is guaranteed when a 155-mm projectile is detonated at a distance of 25 m.
