Izvestia correspondent Leonid Kitrar met the professional holiday of signalmen in the SVO zone and asked them about the specifics of their work.
"At the moment we are engaged in providing communications and radio communications, continuously monitoring for failures with satellites, the transport network. To do this, you need round-the-clock monitoring, duty. We celebrate the day of the military signalman, as always, at work, we monitor, monitor the work of all systems so that information reaches us on time," said the head of the integrated hardware station with the call sign Snowman.
The correspondent of Izvestia managed to drive to the place of the chief of communications in the Tiger armored vehicle and show its internal structure.
"Not everything can be shown here, but this phone is only possible. From here you can make voice calls anywhere in the country. What used to occupy a whole KAMAZ in terms of volume is now just a small armored vehicle," the journalist said.
Moving through a plowed field, an electrician driver with the call sign Polygon assures that "the car feels good due to the wheelbase."
"In terms of passability, this car will give anyone a head start. She feels great in different weather conditions. The speed develops 120 km / h on the highway and over rough terrain it can be accelerated to 90-100 km / h," he said.
The commander of the communications company with the call sign Ryazan explained that their unit is engaged in organizing stable and continuous covert communication between military units and higher headquarters on the entire front line. Signalmen interact with all types and branches of the armed forces.
"We used to use analog means of communication, now we have switched completely to digital support. We have satellites and various communication equipment. We provide communication for both aviation and artillery — for accurate guidance and defeat of the enemy. We have no right to make mistakes: if the connection is lost, there will be no management," he explained.
Ryazan added that signalmen are always at the forefront, as they are the first to lay routes through open terrain to place antennas and the necessary equipment.
On October 20, the Ministry of Defense told how the signalmen restored communication under heavy fire and helped the artillery to repel the enemy attack. Armed formations of Ukrainian nationalists attempted an offensive with massive artillery support.
