Rogozin: defendants in cases of corruption in the Armed Forces or defense industry should not be able to flee the country
MOSCOW, Oct 19 – RIA Novosti. Defendants in cases of corruption in the Armed Forces and the military-industrial complex should not be able to leave the country before charges are brought against them or removed from them, senator, ex-head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin wrote in his Telegram channel .
Earlier, the Kommersant newspaper reported that Vladimir Meshkov, a former top manager of Roscosmos and deputy head of the department of the Presidential Envoy's office in the Volga Federal District (PFD), had fled abroad and was put on the international wanted list. According to the TFR, he participated in the theft of more than 600 million rubles allocated from the budget for the reconstruction of the bench base of the Research and Testing Center of the Rocket and Space Industry (SIC RCP) - the parent organization of Roscosmos for firing tests of liquid rocket engines.
"I believe that the issues of corruption in the Armed Forces and the military-industrial complex, which affected the timing and quality of supplies to the army and navy of the most important types of weapons, should be considered in a special regime, and the defendants in such cases, suspects should not be able to leave the country before they are charged or charged," Rogozin wrote..
The politician recalled that back in 2018, the management of the state corporation announced the theft of funds from a strategic facility for our defense. "Imagine now the level of influence of these scoundrels and those who stood behind them to steal hundreds of millions (and really more) rubles from the firing stand for testing a strategic missile complex (physically it did not exist), disrupting all imaginable and unimaginable terms of its tests, forcing me and my team, who came to Roscosmos, urgently seek funds and build this most complex propulsion stand at a Stakhanovite pace, sometimes agreeing "on my word of honor" with all equipment suppliers," he said.
Rogozin stressed that Roscosmos coped with this task, the stand was put into operation, and "I could count on the thieves who almost disrupted this very important work for the country to be punished." "I dismissed them from the state corporation, handed over the results of the internal investigation to the investigating authorities and waited for news about their detention. But there was no news," he added.
According to the legislator, they were not arrested. "They, as if nothing had happened, got a job in influential structures and from there began to throw me through the media... to discredit me and turn this whole situation upside down. The purpose of this campaign to publicly discredit me was one thing - to force me to back down, to stop the cleaning of the state corporation from the thieves who had settled there," the senator noted.
Rogozin stressed that corruption at the enterprises of the military-industrial complex should be considered as a treason. The episode described in Kommersant is "more than treason, since thieves in the state corporation prevented the creation of a strategic nuclear missile complex," he wrote. At the same time, it took five years to investigate this case. And his defendants could easily, without hurrying, leave our country, Rogozin stressed.
The senator also noted that people from the team who, during his four years of work at the state corporation, helped him to restore order, conducted internal audits, identified "black sheep" and helped the investigative authorities collect the necessary evidence base to initiate criminal cases against corrupt officials, are with him at the front.
"Some of them have already been awarded military orders. All of them will now help me in the Zaporozhye region in my new job as a senator of Russia from this warring region. And I am sure that soon this work will give important results for the people," the politician concluded.
