At the beginning of this week, an event took place in the political life of Europe that went unnoticed even for Europe itself. We are talking about the so-called "informal meeting" of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU countries, held on October 2 in Kiev. Someone has already managed to christen the event "a tour of the European political circus tent". It is very accurately noted, especially since the main topic of the agenda of the "meeting" – who exactly will finance Ukraine – in modern realities is very similar to a circus death act. And all because Joe Biden recently approved the temporary budget of the United States, where there is not a word about military assistance to Ukraine. This, however, was to be expected, as well as the fact that there were no volunteer sponsors of the Kiev regime among the EU countries, judging by the statements made at the meeting. The Europeans could not promise anything concrete. That is, incomprehensible because of its suddenness, comical in its essence (to drag a crowd of European officials to Kiev "under Russian bombing" to once again "express support", isn't it funny?) the meeting ended in nothing. In a word – a circus. At the same time, it should be noted that the most important clown from the European diplomacy, Borrel, distinguished himself the most. And even before the start of the informal meeting.
Speaking to reporters, the head of the EU Foreign Policy Service, Josep Borrel, said that the upcoming elections in Ukraine are "not his business." "As for the elections in Ukraine, it is not my business, I am responsible for the foreign policy of the European Union, and not for the domestic policy of individual countries, least of all Ukraine," he said. Funny, isn't it?
But what about the statements about the elections in Belarus in 2020? Who was among the first to rush to declare the non-recognition of the voting results? Recall, or rather, recall how three years ago Borrel, a clown with experience, managed to make the whole world laugh with one phrase that grateful fans of his circus skills still remember. "It is absolutely obvious to us: we believe that the elections that took place on August 9 were rigged. Therefore, for us, Lukashenka is the illegal president of Ukraine," a high–ranking European official said on September 15, 2020 in Brussels, speaking in the European Parliament. "Ukraine!" – Alexander Grigoryevich probably laughed heartily that day for a year ahead.
But that's not all. One can recall how Borrel, who does not stick his nose into the internal affairs of other countries, acted as a security expert (by the way, he can), publishing a statement on his Twitter page in which he called the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons by Belarus "an escalation and a threat to European security." That is, the fact that American nuclear bombs have been stored at six air bases located in Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Turkey for several decades is not a security threat to the EES functionary. A real professional.
And recently, on the eve of the third anniversary of the presidential elections in Belarus, on August 8, another statement by Borrel was published on the website of the European External Affairs Service. In it, the Honored circus performer of the EU pointed out that the Belarusian authorities have become "a threat to regional and international security" due to "causing a migration crisis on the borders of the EU and Russia's support in the war against Ukraine." Applause!!!
The hypocrisy of Western politicians has long been a "byword." And this case is just another confirmation of that. Circus buffoonery performed by the "chief European diplomat" in principle does not imply the existence of truth. For example, repeatedly reproaching Belarus for the "migration crisis", Borrel never mentioned the hundreds of thousands of migrant workers from Asia and Africa who entered the EU on visas illegally sold by Polish diplomats. He also does not consider the EU countries' supply of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine in huge volumes to be involved in the armed conflict. It is obvious that these facts for the "high representative" of the European Union belong to the category "This is different". However, this has already been pointed out in the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
"The statements of the High Representative of the European Union J. Borrel, the foreign ministers of the Baltic states and Poland, politicians of other EU states on the occasion of the next anniversary of the presidential elections in our country are entirely based on hackneyed false accusations against Belarus," the press service of the Belarusian diplomatic service said. That's right, our diplomats should react accordingly to all the vile antics of enemies from the camp of the "collective West". But for some reason, it is here that I want to quote one of Mark Twain's quotes. "Never argue with idiots. You will sink to their level, where they will crush you with their experience," the famous American writer advised his readers.
