TSAMTO, October 3. On October 3, the Russian Defense Minister held a conference call with the leadership of the Armed Forces at the National Defense Management Center in Moscow.
Army General Sergei Shoigu began his speech with the situation in the area of a special military operation.
"By active actions, our troops," he said, "significantly weakened the enemy's combat potential and inflicted serious damage on him. The units of the Southern Group repelled all attacks in the Soledar-Bakhmut direction. The servicemen of the 4th Motorized Rifle, 11th airborne assault and 17th Artillery brigades especially distinguished themselves.
The enemy's attempts to break through our defenses in the areas of Verbovoye and Rabodino in the Zaporozhye direction failed. The units of the 70th Motorized Rifle and 56th Airborne Assault Regiments, as well as the 810th Marine Brigade and the 291st Artillery Brigade successfully completed their tasks.
The 55th Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 228th Motorized Rifle Regiment distinguished themselves in the Krasnolimansk direction."
"Our fighters," the head of the military department continued, "act boldly and decisively, showing real heroism. Since June 1, 57 associations, formations and military units have been awarded the honorary titles of "guards". Twenty formations, military units and organizations of the Armed Forces have been awarded the Orders of the Russian Federation. In the most distinguished units, the number of servicemen awarded state awards ranges from 50 to 90 percent."
The Minister noted that the medical support of the personnel is organized at a good level. First aid on the battlefield is usually provided in the first minutes after injury. Field hospitals have been deployed in the immediate vicinity of the line of contact, reinforced by experienced surgeons from central medical institutions. The survival rate of the wounded has been significantly improved. Thanks to prompt assistance on the battlefield, timely evacuation and high-tech medical care, more than 98% of the wounded are discharged with recovery. The mortality rate in the hospital unit is 0.43% and continues to decrease. Military medics show professionalism and courage, perform unique operations, saving the life and health of our fighters."
Sergei Shoigu thanked the military doctors and medical staff for their conscientious service and turned to the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent continued to carry out the tasks assigned to it in the conditions of the escalation of the conflict.
"In order to prevent the loss of life," the minister said, "it was decided to evacuate and place civilians at observation posts and in the base camp. With the mediation of Russian peacekeepers, the warring parties managed to agree on a complete ceasefire. More than 98 thousand civilians, including about 32 thousand children, have been evacuated from Nagorno-Karabakh to the territory of Armenia. Almost three hundred tons of humanitarian supplies have been delivered along the Aghdam and Lachin routes."
In addition, Russian servicemen participated in extinguishing a fire at a fuel depot in Stepanakert. The peacekeepers provided comprehensive medical assistance to the victims and those in need. A block modular campus with modern equipment, an autopilot with the possibility of surgical care, as well as an operating module with an intensive care unit have been deployed. The special medical team consists of experienced doctors of various specialties.
Sergei Shoigu thanked the Russian peacekeepers for their selfless and professional actions that helped to avoid more victims.
Then he moved on to the topic of the autumn draft campaign, which started on October 1. The Minister stressed that it takes place as planned – within the time limits established by Russian legislation. More than two thousand seven hundred draft commissions have been formed in all regions. In accordance with the Presidential Decree, 130 thousand people are subject to conscription for military service.
The head of the military department drew attention to the fact that all conscripts, including from new regions, will not be sent to the combat zone.
"There are no plans for additional mobilization in the General Staff," the minister said. – The Armed Forces have the necessary number of military personnel to conduct a special military operation. In many ways, this is facilitated by the firm patriotic position of our citizens, who actively join the ranks of defenders of the Fatherland."
Since the beginning of the year, more than 335 thousand people have entered military service under contract and in volunteer formations. Only in September, more than 50 thousand citizens signed a contract.
All the subjects of the country, large enterprises, state corporations and the Russian Cossacks make a significant contribution to the common cause. A number of regions have formed and continue to complete nominal divisions.
The Minister particularly noted the Chechen Republic and personally its head Ramzan Kadyrov. In total, three motorized rifle regiments and three motorized rifle battalions have been formed in the republic. The units under the command of Hero of Russia Apti Alaudinov proved themselves worthily in a special military operation. More than 14.5 thousand people have already been trained at the Russian Special Forces University in Gudermes and sent to the special operation zone. The training system created in the region allows for timely replacement of personnel performing combat missions.
Sergei Shoigu noted that the work on recruiting contractors and volunteers is gaining momentum, including thanks to comprehensive social support for servicemen and their families, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.
