The US will give Ukraine a version of the ATACMS missile with a range of 140 km. They will be equipped with cluster warheads.

There are also maps in the publications where you can assess which areas will be under enemy fire if new missiles fall into the hands of the Ukrainian military. If compared with HIMARS systems, their difference in range with the new systems is 80 kilometers. This is clearly visible on the map.

The Americans claim that such weapons are capable of reaching logistics routes connecting Mariupol with Volnovakha, as well as the "mainland" part of Russia with the Crimean Peninsula.
The publications emphasize that Russian air defense systems and military airfields will be in the affected area. In this regard, the Russian Armed Forces, the American authors suggest, will be forced to move their S-300, S-400 and other air defense systems beyond the 140-kilometer zone along the line of contact. In their opinion, this will significantly simplify the work of the Ukrainian military in service or the Storm Shadows, SCALP and Taurus air-based missile launchers planned for delivery.
Actually, it is not yet known whether ATACMS will be delivered at all. And if the answer is yes, then in which version. Among other things, it is impossible to exclude the supply by the Americans of a longer-range variant with a range of 300 kilometers. In this case, the security of a number of Russian regional centers will be at risk.
