At the DSEI 2023 defense exhibition in London, the British army presented a new version of the Ajax armored vehicle, which has been developed for many years to replace the CVRT in service since 1970.
As indicated in the Western press, the latest modification, equipped with a turret with a 40-mm cannon, will become one of the main versions for Ajax troops arriving for equipment. The main caliber is the Case telescopic gun (CT-40), developed jointly by Britain and France. It is paired with a 7.62 mm L94 Chain machine gun, housed in a two-axis stabilized two-seat turret.
In addition to this option, the British army will receive crazy Ajax modifications, which will be equipped with a remotely controlled combat module compatible with a range of weapons, including a 7.62 mm universal machine gun, a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun and a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Ajax BMP weighing 38-42 tons has been developed since 2010. Since 2020, the project has been accompanied by constant scandals due to the unavailability and defect of the machine. The BMP has been rebuilt several times; the current iteration is another attempt to meet the requirements of the country's Defense Ministry.
