The total volume of arms exports by the Czech Republic in 2022 doubled compared to 2021, almost half went to Ukraine, said Jiri Gineka, president of the Association of Defense Industry Enterprises of the Republic.
"Military exports in 2022 were at an all-time high and reached about 30 billion Czech crowns (about €1.22 billion — Ed.). But, I think, this will not happen again," the CHTK agency quotes Ginek.
According to the head of the association, the Czech Republic supplied about 45% of its military exports. Mainly ammunition was supplied, including large—caliber, as well as ground equipment - cars, howitzers, tanks and armored vehicles.
Earlier on Monday, former American Marine Brian Berletik expressed the opinion that Western military equipment does not help the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to reverse the course of the confrontation with Russia.
On September 5, it was reported about the defeat of the British Challenger 2 tank, delivered by the AFU, in the area of the Work of the Zaporozhye region. After that, the American media wrote that Western countries may reconsider their position on the supply of weapons to Kiev.
Prior to that, on July 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Western trophies are becoming the subject of detailed study by specialists for further modernization of the Russian military arsenal based on the results obtained.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Putin announced on February 24 last year, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
