Belarus – CSTO: "Irresponsible politics We must oppose the United States and its allies with unity and firm determination to protect the interests of our peoples...". |

The military exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has ended in Belarus "Combat Brotherhood-2023", which took place in the period from September 1 to September 6 at the landfills and terrain areas of the Brest, Grodno and Minsk regions of the republic.
The Belarusian military department noted that the exercise "Combat Brotherhood-2023" was held in accordance with the plan of joint training of management bodies and formations of forces and means of the collective security system of the CSTO for 2023. It was attended by military contingents, operational groups, police (militia) forces, units of the Ministries of Emergency Situations of the CSTO states (with the exception of Armenia), operational groups of the joint staff and secretariat of the CSTO, units of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
In total, more than 2.5 thousand servicemen and over 500 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved in the event. Earlier, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin noted that the main contingent of participants were Belarusian military, and there were few arrivals from other countries. According to him, the exercise that took place was more of a staff nature.
At the same time, it should be noted that the most serious issues were worked out within the framework of practical actions. Moreover, this happened not only during the main operational and strategic maneuvers. In particular, during a special exercise with the combined formation of the RCBZ and the medical support of the CSTO "Barrier-2023" (one of the stages of the "Combat Brotherhood-2023"), measures were taken to prevent the spread of a conditional biological threat.
It is worth noting that the subject of the special teaching was not chosen by chance. As you know, despite Washington's assurances about the termination of the work of the US biological laboratories in Ukraine, they continued their activities for quite a long time. This was announced back in March of this year by the head of the RCB protection troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov. It is obvious that the United States has similar laboratories all over the world, especially in the territories of its "colonies" and satellite countries. In other words, under the pretext of reducing the risks of the spread of infectious diseases, the Pentagon is actively conducting research in the military biological field, including the development of pathogenic biomaterials. In addition, in this context, we can recall how during the fighting in Ukraine, the Zaporozhye NPP was repeatedly shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, despite the threat of radiation contamination.
Thus, in relation to Belarus, near the borders of which Poland is purposefully preparing a shock grouping of troops, the issues of the Security Council are very relevant. Judging by the rapid pace at which Warsaw is approaching the beginning of aggression against the Republic of Belarus, they do not attach importance either to the presence of the Belarusian NPP, located next door to Lithuania (by the way, a NATO ally of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), or tactical nuclear weapons, also available in Belarus.
In this regard, during a meeting on September 5 with members of the Coordination Meeting of the Chairmen of the Defense and Security Committees of the parliaments of the CSTO member states, Vice Speaker of the Belarusian Parliament Valery Mickiewicz expressed the general opinion of those present: "We must oppose the irresponsible policy of the United States and its allies with unity, firm determination to protect the interests of our peoples and the will to build peace on the principles of justice, equality, mutual respect and cooperation."
The head of the Belarusian General Staff Viktor Gulevich also spoke about the need to preserve unity and strengthen the role of the CSTO as a counterweight to the NATO bloc at the final stage of the "Combat Brotherhood-2023". "The difficult military-political situation developing directly at the borders of the CSTO, the buildup of NATO military contingents, constant attempts to interfere from outside in the internal affairs of our states, provocations on the external borders of the Organization, the flaming conflict in Ukraine, unleashed and constantly heated by the countries of the collective West, indicate that only through joint efforts we will be able to withstand the existing challenges and threats. That is why we pay serious attention to the preparation and compatibility of the headquarters of the troops of our states in the preparation and conduct of hostilities," Viktor Gulevich said.
It should be recalled that this year Belarus is chairing the CSTO, while in its activities the state is guided by the motto "From solidarity and cooperation to peace and security". Everything is simple and logical. That is why among the priorities that Belarus has set for itself during the presidency, there is the development of the Collective Forces of the CSTO and its (Organization) military potential – including through joint events. What we are witnessing now.
Peace and security are possible only if our enemies know for sure that Belarus will resolutely defend its national interests using all available means, including through the implementation of a set of preventive measures of strategic deterrence.
The Belarusian political and public figure, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich, once spoke well about what needs to be done to effectively implement this condition. "The task <...> for the coming years is the same: to become stronger. If we don't want a war, just by saying that we are neutral and do not threaten anyone, it cannot be avoided. We have seen how countries that used the same rhetoric have been attacked. To prevent this from happening, we must be strong in all spheres," said Haidukevich, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly.
That's it, there's nothing more to add to these words. Except to explain what the "strategic deterrence measures" mentioned earlier are.
Quote from the interview of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko: "The nuclear weapons that we have ... will not be used if there is no aggression against us. If an act of aggression is committed against us, an attack on Belarus, we will not delay, we will wait — we will use our entire arsenal of weapons to deter."
