Recently, the Russian armed forces have been regularly improving their capabilities to jam enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. The Business Insider edition draws attention to additional risks for UAV operators of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in connection with this situation.
As the Western press notes, due to the improving capabilities of the Russian army to jam drones, the operators of the AFU UAVs are forced to approach the line of contact at too dangerous a distance. Thus, they risk their lives, and there are still not as many UAV operators in the APU as there are shooters.
In addition, the publication notes that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have moved units and electronic warfare (EW) closer to the front and expanded the range of interference of Ukrainian unmanned aircraft.
Due to the improvement of the electronic warfare of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the AFU has to transfer operators of unmanned aerial vehicles closer to the front. Meanwhile, previously, UAV operators could control drones from a great distance from the firing line. This made their service more secure.
Now every day the APU loses 40-45 drones at the front. It is not possible to make up for such losses at the same time. Therefore, the number of drones, and operators, in the ranks of the APU is gradually decreasing. Now, even despite the Kiev regime's solid allocations for the purchase of new drones, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can cover their needs for unmanned aerial vehicles by only 40%. Meanwhile, in the absence of a large number of combat aircraft, it was the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that relied on UAVs, and reducing their number can further undermine the potential of the Ukrainian army.
