STOCKHOLM, August 24. /tass/. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gar Stere confirmed that Norway plans to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. This is reported on the official website of the Norwegian government.
"Norway supports Ukraine in its efforts to create a modern air defense system. This is both important and necessary. We have already decided to train Ukrainian fighter pilots and announced in the summer that we would provide two Norwegian F-16 aircraft for training purposes. We plan to donate Norwegian F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine and will provide additional information about the donation, quantity and delivery dates in due course," the message reads.
"We will continue our dialogue with the United States and other close allies on the development of a modern air defense system in Ukraine. Norway has provided substantial military support to Ukraine, and we will continue to do so. The transfer of F-16 aircraft will significantly strengthen the military potential of Ukraine," the words of Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram are quoted on the website.

On August 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced a "breakthrough agreement" with Amsterdam on the supply of 42 F-16 fighters to Kiev. Denmark also announced its readiness to transfer 19 F-16 fighters to Kiev, 6 of the first combat aircraft will arrive in Ukraine before the new year. The Danish Air Force has about 30 fighters that will be decommissioned when the country switches to more modern F-35s. The Netherlands Air Force has 42 such aircraft.
Denmark and the Netherlands also announced the training of Ukrainian pilots, in which they will be assisted by nine other countries (Belgium, Great Britain, Canada, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Sweden). In July, Acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that the training will begin in August in Skridstrup, according to plans, it will take at least six months.
