In Russia, an inspection frame has been created that detects weapons made of carbon fiber
MOSCOW, Aug 24 – RIA Novosti. A unique inspection equipment capable of distinguishing not only cold metal and firearms, but also made of carbon fiber, was developed in Russia, the Diagnostics-M developer company told RIA Novosti.
He explained that such materials can be used for the manufacture of components of concealed-carry firearms and bladed weapons. The combat characteristics of carbon fiber elements are similar to the properties of traditional weapons, but conventional metal detectors cannot detect them, the Diagnostics-M emphasized.
The system was named VIDECT-SM-21. When creating it, the developers for the first time managed to create flexible intelligent analysis algorithms that allow them to distinguish dangerous objects from personal items. That is, the system is able to reliably identify prohibited objects, while ignoring safe items from the materials given to it. This option, according to the developers, significantly increases the speed and efficiency of the inspection.
In addition, unlike existing domestic and foreign devices, the new system takes into account the direction of passage. Such a function greatly simplifies the organization of checkpoints. It can be configured so that, for example, to prevent the entry of weapon components into the building, and for removal - items made of non-ferrous and precious metals, at enterprises where this is required.
