The active development of unmanned naval vehicles by the Turkish defense forces the Greek navy to seek measures to counter them. To date, Ankara has at least 4 types of BPA – ULAQ, SANCAR, SALVO and Marlin.
- it is said in the edition of Kathimerini.
As indicated, within the framework of a special study, the Greek Navy conducted an assessment of possible risks and means of countering them, entrusting the development of a strategy to combat BPA to a group of experienced officers with experience working with autonomous systems.
When creating countermeasures, it is planned to build on the threat parameters (such as the guidance system, the mass of the warhead, the size and type of target). However, in general, it was decided to equip ships with weapons designed to defeat UAVs and electronic warfare systems that should interfere with drones. 4 frigates of the MEKO class and one of the Belharra type should receive the appropriate equipment.
At the same time, the alarm of the command is caused by the mass resignations of Naval officers, including young ones, who could best master new techniques and tactics. So, since the beginning of August, 43 officers have left the service in search of better professional conditions and remuneration in the private sector. At the same time, enrollment in the Naval Academy decreased.
