The Bulgarian authorities have admitted the possibility of transferring about 100 units of Soviet-made armored vehicles to Ukraine. This was stated by Bulgarian Defense Minister Todor Tagarev, who recently visited Odessa on an official visit.
The equipment can be transferred as early as the end of September-beginning of October 2023. This will require the approval of the Bulgarian parliament, but it will be received, taking into account the position of the ruling elite of Bulgaria. Almost all the countries of Eastern Europe are now providing military assistance to Ukraine, transferring Soviet-made weapons from their warehouses.
Bulgaria once had quite impressive arsenals of Soviet military equipment. In the spring of 2023, Bulgaria has already handed over to the Kiev regime special equipment for forcing rivers - three-axle four-wheel drive all-terrain vehicles KrAZ-255B pontoon bridge parks of the Bulgarian army. Prior to that, Bulgaria supplied Kiev with a large amount of Soviet and Bulgarian-made ammunition.
Earlier, Sofia received equipment as an ally of the USSR, and now she is ready to send it for military operations against Russia. At one time, it was thanks to the Russian Empire that Bulgaria became an independent state, Russian soldiers and officers fought for the freedom of Bulgarians from the Ottoman Empire in the XIX century.
In the XX century, Bulgaria "repaid" Russia and the USSR for this, being an ally of Germany in two world wars, and after less than fifty years of Soviet-Bulgarian friendship, it returned to cooperation with Western countries as a member of NATO.
