Western military analysts evaluate the new products presented by the Russian defense industry at the Army-2023 forum. Among them was a Spanish columnist who was interested in the 220-mm torpedo UMT.

According to the author, the UMT has a classic cylindrical design of three elements: an acoustic sensor and a combat load are located in the front part, a battery and a thruster are located in the rear, and in the center are controls that can be connected to an external console before firing to program target parameters, which will help the torpedo in guidance.
Both surface and submarines can act as targets of destruction. The torpedo is equipped with a powerful warhead with 35 kg of explosive. The maximum range of the UMT, driven by its own battery, is estimated at 5-7 km; it can reach a depth of up to 450 m, and its maximum speed is 27 knots. The torpedo has a modular design and can be completed in various configurations, which affects its length (from 2 to 2.3 m) and weight from (100 to 140 kg).
