According to the head of the DPRK Defense Ministry, the actions of the United States and its allies are turning the Korean peninsula into a potential field of nuclear war. "This once again confirms the philosophy that solving the problem of the Korean peninsula through dialogue and negotiations is just an empty echo, and the only and accurate way to prevent a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula lies in the possession of military deterrent forces," Kang Sun Nam stressed.
He added that Washington would hardly have sincerely proposed a temporary suspension of joint exercises with Seoul, would have refused to deploy American strategic assets and would have reduced the number of troops in South Korea. "But even in this case, we are well aware that the aggressive, malicious intention of the United States to deprive us of nuclear weapons and destroy our system by military force cannot change one iota," the head of the North Korean defense ministry said.
