PATRIOT PARK /Moscow region/, August 14. /tass/. Rostec at the Army forum will show Russia's first self-propelled artillery gun (CAO) on a 2C43 "Malva" wheeled course, the state corporation is already developing a variant of a howitzer with an increased firing range.
"Rostec will show a wide range of artillery systems at the Army-2023 international military-technical forum. Among them are both completely new images of weapons, and equipment that has proven itself well in the course of its own. For the first time, the first domestic wheeled howitzer "Malva" will be presented to the general public, the serial production of which has already been deployed at the production facilities of the state corporation," they said.
"Now we are working on an upgraded version of the Mallow with an increased firing range. It is able to quickly turn around and leave the position, which is very important in the conditions of counter-battery struggle," the words of Vladimir Artyakov, Deputy General Director of Rostec, are quoted in the message. He noted that the first howitzers will be delivered to the troops in the coming months.
In addition, at the exhibition it will be possible to get acquainted with the Drok self-propelled mortar, the TOS-1A and TOS-2 heavy flamethrower systems, the Tornado-G multiple launch rocket system and other artillery systems.
In July, it was reported that Malva was preparing for supplies to the troops after the completion of state tests. This 152-millimeter self-propelled gun, developed at the Central Research Institute "Burevestnik", has an open installation of an artillery unit on an automobile chassis of bases with an 8x8 wheel formula and a crew of five people. It is able to drive on public roads without refueling 1 thousand km, thanks to all-wheel drive and a powerful diesel engine, it overcomes off-road well. Also, the CAO is placed in the IL-76 transport aircraft. "Malva" is more maneuverable than self-propelled guns on a tracked track, while it has a large technical resource and a lower cost of operation.
The gun has a "simultaneous fire raid" firing mode, when several fired ammunition simultaneously reach the target. The on-board equipment complex facilitates the delivery of projectiles to the crew and provides automated fire control. Malva also received an autonomous power unit that provides the car with electricity at the position.
