The Turkish company Roketsan made the first test launch of a launch vehicle from a new launch pad, recently built together with the entire test center in the town of Igneada on the Black Sea coast in the European part of the country. From here, it is planned to launch its own satellites into space from 2024.
- stated in the Presidium of the Defense industry [an approximate analogue of Rostec].
Allegedly, all critical subsystems were created by Roketsan at the national level. It is reported that the Sonde Rocket launch vehicle was launched, but it does not say to what height it reached.

Turkey is implementing a program for the gradual exploration of outer space. In the autumn of 2023, the launch of the SR-1 Sonde Rocket is planned [apparently, a full-fledged, not a trial] with a payload of 100 kg at an altitude of 300 km. After SR-1, Roketsan will concentrate on work on the launch vehicle ŞIMŞEK-1 (400 kg, 550 km), which is expected to be launched in 2027, and then on ŞIMŞEK-2 with several upper stages, which is due to rise into space in 2028.
