The Research Institute of Steel has tested one of its products designed to protect the personnel of the Russian Armed Forces. Russian developers have tested the Aegis anti-shatter blanket.
This was reported in the press service of the Kalashnikov concern.
The test, which took place at the Tsniitochmash training ground, was carried out using F-1 and RGN hand grenades. They were blown up at a distance of three and five meters from the blanket. More than 85 percent of the fragments flying at a speed of at least 700 meters per second were delayed by the product. And those of them who managed to break through the product did not pose a danger, since they lost their striking ability.
Stechkin's pistol was also fired at the blanket from a distance of five meters. At the same time, none of the bullets managed to penetrate it.
The Research Institute of Steel, which produces such blankets, is part of the Kalashnikov Concern, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation structure.

The scope of application of the product in a real combat situation can be extremely wide, especially given the fact that Russian servicemen are not deprived of ingenuity. For example, it can be hung in front of the entrance to the dugout or on the car door. Some of those who commented on the message of the Rostec press service in social networks suggest pulling such blankets over the trenches or giving them to soldiers so that they can hide under them during shelling. Of course, this does not guarantee absolute protection, but it significantly increases the chances of survival.
