In the American Sterling Heights, after a break, a running model of a promising next-generation AbramsX main battle tank was shown.
As noted by Rossiyskaya Gazeta (the project "RG: Russian weapons" ), judging by the published photos, the tracked vehicle has some differences from the original version. For some reason, the panoramic sight located on the left side was removed from him. But in front of the installation site of this device there is another sensor of the active protection complex, which, as experts suggest, should monitor the situation above the roof.
Yuri Lyamin, senior researcher at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST), said that at present, specialists engaged in the military sphere in all countries of the world are closely monitoring events taking place in the areas of a special military operation.

In particular, the active use of barrage ammunition and FPV drones, on which the warheads of rocket-propelled grenades are suspended.
"So far, they are protected from them by installing various screens, but it can be assumed that after a while there will be systems that will actively resist. In addition, in addition to the above-mentioned means of destruction, there are various anti-tank missile systems optimized for strikes specifically on the roof of armored vehicles. This threat will also be combated," Lyamin said.

AbramsX is a radical modernization of the M1 family of tanks. First shown last fall, it has an uninhabited turret armed with a new 120mm cannon with automatic loading.
There is also a remotely controlled 30-mm cannon installation, one of the tasks of which is precisely the destruction of incoming drones. The crew of three is located in the front of the hull. It is also reported that the gas turbine will be replaced by a hybrid power plant.

It is still unknown when this tank will enter service with the American army and whether it will arrive at all. The US military is currently busy working on the "traditional" M1A2 SEP v4, which is expected to begin entering the military in 2025.
