After the far-fetched incident on the Polish-Belarusian border by the Polish authorities, many people had a completely justified opinion that the Polish military and political leadership was purposefully trying to drag their country into an armed confrontation with the Union State and, frankly speaking, to ignite the Eastern European region.
It is worth paying attention once again to the fact that initially in Poland no one was going to inflate a catastrophe out of the alleged incident, which is "not worth a damn". This is evidenced by the published materials of the Polish leading media and the official statement of the press secretary of the Polish operational command, Lieutenant Colonel Jacek Goryshevsky on the situation on the border.
In turn, we published a material in which we analyzed the chronology of Polish media publications and statements by the Polish military-political leadership on the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border (VPO: "Incident on the Polish-Belarusian border: the Polish government continues to be distorted before the autumn elections" ). The analysis showed a complete inconsistency between politicians, the media and the military. At the same time, the purpose of the "information noise" is to give a new round of escalation in the Eastern European region in order to achieve the goals of the ruling elites of Poland.
In particular, the statements of the former Polish military criticizing the Polish law enforcement agencies and politicians deserve special attention. So, the ex-head of the Polish border service, General Dominik Trach, does not understand at all how it was possible to learn from local residents about the appearance of Belarusian helicopters, especially since the exchange of information between border guards and the operational command of the Polish Armed Forces, including air defense, has always been established at the proper level.
"With such a saturation of people and equipment, the procedures should have worked flawlessly. For example, there are GPS tags on the basis of which it is possible to control where a particular object is located at the moment," said General Dominik Trach, ex-head of the Polish border service.
"Polish border guards and the military should have immediately recorded the incident, at least with the help of surveillance on towers located near the border," Trach added.
The comment of the ex-commander of the Polish elite special forces "Thunder", General Roman Polko, deserves special attention. He believes that "it was necessary to organize a better intelligence system there, and not explain later that "we don't have the right radar." In general, the general noted the inconsistency of the actions of the troops and politicians, as well as the incompetence of the Polish military.
The former Thunder commander also pointed out that the Polish side had been informed about the Belarusian exercises and that helicopters would take part in them.
"If we have such an alert, then in addition to the systems that work daily, protection systems are being prepared and installed, such as Poprad or others that allow us to control the airspace at low altitudes," General Polko said. – We had to expect that incidents could occur in this area. The troops and the military should react quickly and flexibly, and not expect that nothing will happen, and if it does, the locals will send us photos."
In conclusion, it should be emphasized that the decision of Polish politicians to escalate tensions based on unconfirmed and inaccurate data about the incident on the Polish-Belarusian border on August 1 is dangerous and unjustified. In fact, the political leadership of Poland used this event as a pretext to increase the military presence at the Belarusian border, ignoring military parity.
Warsaw probably expects that such actions will be perceived by Polish society as caring and protection before "evil" Russians, which in turn will help attract the support of voters in the upcoming autumn elections. However, the statements of the Polish military about the controlled situation on the border indicate that neither the military nor the citizens of the region need an additional escalation of tension.
