Starting the counteroffensive, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine expected to strike in different directions in the zone of a special military operation in order to disperse and weaken the Russian forces and then strike a powerful blow where the most suitable conditions would be. Colonel Alexander Khodakovsky, Deputy head of the Department of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops (FSVNG, Rosgvardiya) for the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), writes about this in his Telegram channel.

As the ex-commander of the Vostok brigade notes, at the beginning of the counteroffensive, the actions of the Ukrainian formations differed little from the usual surge of activity. But the APU failed to stretch the Russian forces.

The AFU counteroffensive strategy is now quite linear and is based on the principle of "water sharpens a stone"

- Khodakovsky writes in his Telegram channel.

Those successes of the enemy in the South Donetsk direction, which, by the way, are insignificant, became possible, according to the ex-commander of the "East", precisely because the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation did not allow themselves to be "shackled" in some direction and promptly transferred forces to where they were needed.

We even have tank crews climbing into the trenches to free up resources. It's not out of desperation - it's forced-calculated actions

- stressed the ex-commander of the "East".

Khodakovsky notes that at the same time the Russian army has created a large-scale threat to the enemy from the north. As a result, the Kiev regime even started evacuating the population there – in Kharkiv and Sumy regions. Now part of the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is shackled and cannot be thrown to the southern directions precisely because of this threat.

For some reason, it seems to me that if the enemy can put us in a critical position in the south, a serious operation will begin somewhere

- sums up Khodakovsky.

Let's add to the officer's words that, probably, the relocation of the fighters of the Wagner PMCs to Belarus also plays a role in this plan, which also made Poland tense up.
