Chinese President Xi Jinping called for accelerating the pace of modernization of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA), the Chinese state news agency Xinhua reports. The head of the Central Military Council of China made this statement during his inspection of the Western Combat Command Zone, located in Sichuan Province in the southwest of the country.

At the same time, the Chinese leader clarified, when carrying out all these transformations, it is necessary to act in accordance with the spirit of the XX Party Congress.
Also during his speech, Xi focused on the need to introduce modern equipment that will increase the combat capability of the PLA.
During his speech, the Secretary General of the CPC Central Committee also touched upon the conduct of training and exercises by Chinese troops in real combat conditions, which, thus, will contribute to improving the development of their practical skills. He also reminded of the need for Chinese soldiers and officers to pay great attention to ideological and political training.
Earlier, Xi Jinping said during his address to the PLA servicemen about the existing security problems in the republic. According to the Chinese leader, this is primarily due to the fact that the world has undergone drastic changes today, and therefore, an increasingly unstable situation is being traced in the country.
