CPVS: in 2023, the "coalition" allowed more than 20 dangerous approaches to the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria
In 2023, the international coalition led by the United States allowed more than 20 dangerous approaches with Russian aircraft in the skies over Syria. This was announced on Saturday, July 29, by the deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in the Arab Republic, Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov.
"During 2023, the coalition aviation made 23 dangerous approaches to the aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, during 11 of which the crews recorded the irradiation of Russian aircraft with weapons guidance systems, which led to the automatic operation of on—board defense systems and the shooting of false thermal targets," he said at a briefing.
Gurinov noted that two such approaches were recorded in April, one in May, four more in June and five in July. Thus, according to him, there is an increase in the number of dangerous approaches by the coalition aircraft.
In addition, the Rear Admiral said that since January 1, 2023, 1,761 cases of violation of the Syrian state border by aircraft of the so-called international anti-terrorist coalition have been recorded.
At the same time, in July, 180 flights of their combat aircraft were recorded in the airspace of the country in the area of Al-Tanf, through which international air routes pass, when civilian vessels were there.
"The non—compliance of the US-led "coalition" with the rules of deconfliction and violation of the state border of the Syrian Arab Republic jeopardizes the fragile balance of forces in the region achieved thanks to the efforts of the Russian Federation, has a destructive effect on the development of the situation, and also aggravates the situation in the airspace of Syria," Gurinov summed up.
Earlier, on July 28, the Central Air Force reported that the Russian unmanned aerial vehicle Orlan-10 was exposed to electronic warfare in Syria. It was also noted that on the morning of July 28, the coalition's MQ-9 drone dangerously approached the Russian SU-34 aircraft. It happened in the sky over the Syrian province of Raqqa.
The day before, on July 27, the Central Air Force reported on the provocation by the US "coalition" of all dangerous situations in the sky over Syria. Gurinov noted that for July 27, 15 cases of violation of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019 were recorded on her part.
On July 18, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General Mark Milli, said at a press conference at the Pentagon that there is no need to exaggerate the importance of the sometimes arising friction between the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the United States in Syria.
