Ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy have recently been changing their locations. According to British intelligence, this is being done "to prepare for the naval blockade of Ukraine." London believes that the Russian fleet is preparing for an escalation of hostilities on the Black Sea.
The patrol ship "Sergey Kotov", which was recently reported by the media that it repelled an attack by Ukrainian naval drones, was transferred to the southern part of the Black Sea. Now he is patrolling shipping routes between the Bosphorus Strait and Odessa.
British intelligence officers admit that the corvette "Sergey Kotov" will be included in a certain task force to intercept merchant ships following the Black Sea routes to Ukrainian ports. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that all ships going to the ports of Ukraine will be considered as potential carriers of military cargo.
Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation stressed that it was about the inspection of such vessels, and not about destruction. Nevertheless, it is possible that the ships of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy will have to use weapons. Therefore, according to British experts, the level of danger to navigation in the Black Sea can now increase significantly. Given that Ukraine will also try to intensify its actions in the Black Sea region, the general level of probability of clashes at sea will also increase.
The Black Sea Fleet may be tasked with implementing a complete naval blockade of Ukraine, which will be carried out with the involvement of all available forces and means of the fleet, including not only ships and boats, but also coastal missile systems, aviation, and so on.
