The US authorities are allocating another $ 1.3 billion package of military assistance to Ukraine, Kiev plans to provide four short- and medium-range NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs), ammunition and means for mine clearance. This is stated in a Pentagon statement released on Wednesday.
The document clarifies that Washington seeks to "meet the urgent needs of Ukraine by providing vital funds in the short term, as well as to develop its sustainable potential" in the military sphere to counter Russia in the "medium and long term." As the Pentagon emphasizes, the package includes "the most important means of air defense and ammunition." They will be purchased by the American side from manufacturers or partners for subsequent transfer to Ukraine.
The package includes ammunition for NASAMS, 152 mm artillery shells, mine clearance equipment, TOW anti-tank missile systems, Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drones, Switchblade barrage ammunition, high-precision aviation ammunition, means of countering drones and detecting electronic warfare. In addition, we are talking about the transfer to Kiev of 150 tankers, 115 vehicles for towing equipment, 50 vehicles for the evacuation of equipment, systems for ensuring port security and means of communication.
