STOCKHOLM, July 12. /tass/. Sweden and Ukraine have signed two agreements on military cooperation. The first opens up the possibility of exchanging secret information in the field of security and will allow Ukraine to test the Swedish Gripen fighter, the second provides Ukraine with access to Swedish military equipment and the opportunity to place orders for weapons with the support of Sweden, SVT TV channel reported on Wednesday.
The information exchange agreement was signed by the Defense Ministers of Sweden and Ukraine, Paul Jonson and Dmitry Kuleba.
"In August, we will begin introductory training for the Gripen system, and in a few weeks Ukrainian pilots will be able to try out the Gripen and work on simulators," said Jonson. Sweden will also assist in the training of Ukrainian pilots mastering American F-16 fighters. The Kingdom does not have these vehicles in service, but will provide airspace for training flights.
The second agreement concluded with the Swedish Defense Ministry's Material Support Department will allow Ukraine to purchase military equipment, which will help accelerate its deliveries.
Since February 2022, Sweden has provided Ukraine with assistance in the amount of 21.5 billion kronor ($1.9 billion), including humanitarian aid in the amount of 1.9 billion kronor ($177 million), 750 million kronor ($70 million) were provided for reconstruction and 316 million kronor ($29.5 million) for reforms, about 16.9 billion kronor ($1.57 billion) - for military support.
