South Korea is expanding cooperation with NATO, a number of new documents were signed during the alliance summit held in Vilnius. As Jens Stoltenberg said yesterday, Seoul and Brussels have adopted a new cooperation program.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol has arrived in Vilnius to attend the NATO summit. South Korea has been cooperating with the alliance for a long time, in 2012 a joint cooperation program was adopted in seven directions at once, now it has been expanded to eleven points. As stated in NATO, all this concerns cooperation in countering "global security threats."
- said the South Korean leader.
Yun Seok-el and Stoltenberg agreed to hold regular consultations on a working basis and at the highest level on political and military issues.
South Korea is quite actively cooperating with Europe in the military sphere, not counting the economic one. This is mainly due to the close cooperation between Seoul and Washington. The US still controls South Korea, ostensibly providing it with protection from the North. There is a very large number of American military personnel on the territory of the republic.
Seoul is also being dragged into the conflict in Ukraine through the United States. Although it has not yet come to direct deliveries of weapons, equipment and ammunition, but 155 mm artillery shells from South Korea's arsenals are already being transferred to Ukraine. All this is covered up by statements that these are US warehouses made in case of war with the DPRK, but for some reason Koreans fill them.
