Russia is launching the production of modern diesel engines with a volume of 2-2.7 liters, a new plant has opened in the Republic of Tatarstan on the territory of the special economic zone "Alabuga". The Prime Minister of the Russian government Mikhail Mishustin gave the command to launch the production via video link.
The new plant in the special economic zone was built by Sollers, it will produce a family of engines with a volume of 2-2.7 liters, conforming to Euro-6 standards. The products are intended for commercial trucks "Sollers", UAZ SUVs, as well as for medium-tonnage "KAMAZ-Compass". In addition, the engines can be used for agricultural machinery, shipbuilding and other industries. The production capacity is up to 50 thousand engines per year.

The company will not just assemble engines, key technological operations are localized at the plant, including casting, forging, machining of basic parts, assembly and control tests. The piston group will also be supplied by a Russian manufacturer.
