Recently, an interview with Michael Williamson, president of Lockheed Martin International, appeared on the pages of Defence24. The interview was mainly related to the fact that in the near future Poland plans to purchase two more combat fighter squadrons.

When asked how confident Lockheed Martin's management is that it will sell Poland the F-35 or F-16, he replied that their products are "the best" and that his company feels confident and always supports and respects the opinion of each customer.

When Michael Williamson was asked if his company would increase the planned production of the F-35 to more than 160 per year, due to the aggravation of the situation in the world and an increase in orders, he replied:

I've just been to one of the F-35 production plants in Japan. There we looked at how to increase production efficiency. They have six stations, each of which can operate on one F-35 at the same time. But the Japanese plan to reduce the production time at each of these stations by 10-15 percent. This will increase the speed of deliveries without building a new plant. Therefore, the goal is maximum efficiency, which will increase the speed of delivery. Of course, investments in the construction of new plants are also possible, but this is a long-term process.

In addition, the first person of the Martin Lockheed company told how he sees the nearest development of the enterprise. During the pandemic, Martin Lockheed had problems, for example, with some parts and production of the F-35. Many items in the USA are manufactured in one place. Now the company is working on expanding the base not only of suppliers, but also of production.

Further, the journalist of "Defence24" asked how much the International considers Poland and its industry in the context of expanding the geography of production.

We want to be partners of the Polish industry

- said Williamson and added:

Yes, we are considering expanding our supplier base in Poland. In many cases, you are more likely to be pioneers, and Poland has a large skilled workforce. We are already carrying out a lot of work on helicopters and airplanes in Poland at our facilities. The Polish chassis is being integrated with our anti-aircraft missile launchers.

Michael Williamson replied.

In addition, the head of Martin Lockheed added that they are currently looking for additional companies to invest in. This will not only help to develop opportunities for Poland itself, but also that manufactured parts and works from Poland can be used in other countries of the world.
