CPVS: Russia expresses concern over violations of deconfliction protocols over Syria
The Russian military expressed concern about violations of deconfliction protocols in the skies over Syria by the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition in Syria, noting nine such recorded cases over the past day. This was announced at a briefing on July 8 by Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria.
"The Russian side once again expresses concern about the systematic violations of the deconfliction protocols (by the American coalition. — Ed.) ... and draws attention to the ongoing cases of the appearance of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles. - Ed.) of the coalition in the airspace closed in connection with the joint Russian-Syrian exercises," he said, stating nine violations over the past day.
In addition, according to Gurinov, six flights were recorded: two Typhoon aircraft, two Rafale aircraft and two coalition F-16 aircraft.
The day before, the Russian Defense Ministry said that due to the approach of drones of the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition in Syria, Russian aircraft had on-board defense systems triggered, false thermal targets were shot.
On July 6, Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov reported that the US-led international anti-terrorist coalition in Syria had violated deconfliction protocols nine times over the past day in an area closed to flights in connection with exercises of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force.
In addition, on this day, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the beginning of joint exercises of the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force in Syria, during which issues of control of the airspace of the Arab Republic are being worked out. It is specified that the exercises will last until mid-July.
Earlier, on July 4, Russia expressed concern about systematic violations of deconfliction protocols related to the flights of drones of the American coalition in Syria.
On July 1, Gurinov pointed out that aviation and UAVs of the international anti-terrorist coalition violated flight safety in the SAR 315 times in June.
