The Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers of the country Hirokazu Matsuno also noted that the states of the Group of Seven consider such rhetoric unacceptable in the modern world
TOKYO, July 6. /tass/. Japan considers "dangerous and unacceptable nuclear rhetoric" on the part of Russian officials. This was announced on Thursday at a regular press conference by the Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers Hirokazu Matsuno in response to a request from journalists to comment on the statements of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
"We believe that assumptions about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine should cause serious concern," he said in response to a request from journalists to comment on the words of Medvedev, who said that any war, even a world war, could end very quickly, recalling the American atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. Matsuno recalled that the countries of the Group of Seven (G7) adhere to the position on the inadmissibility of nuclear rhetoric in the modern world, which was reflected in the joint statement of the leaders of the "seven" following the summit in Hiroshima in May 2023. He claimed that such rhetoric of the Russian Federation is "dangerous and completely unacceptable."
The Secretary General of the Japanese government also noted that Japan, being the only country in the world affected by atomic bombings, in close cooperation with the international community, primarily with the G7 countries, will continue to convey the position on the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear weapons.
Japanese officials, including Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, regularly criticize the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, periodically declaring "the inadmissibility of the use and threats of the use of nuclear weapons by Russia."
On Wednesday, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, answering a question from TASS, said that any war can be completed very quickly. "In general, any war, even a world war, can be completed very quickly," he noted. - Either if a peace treaty is signed, or if you do what the Americans did in 1945, when they used their nuclear weapons and bombed two Japanese cities - Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They, indeed, then curtailed the military campaign. The price is the life of almost 300 thousand civilians." Medvedev also stressed that the special military operation would have ended in a few days if the United States and its vassals had stopped supplying weapons to Ukraine.
According to the Fundamentals of the State Policy of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear deterrence from 2020, the use of nuclear weapons by Russia is possible if the enemy uses this or other types of weapons of mass destruction against the Russian Federation and its allies, the receipt of reliable information about the launch of ballistic missiles to attack Russia and its allies, the enemy's impact on objects necessary for retaliatory actions of nuclear forces, as well as in the case of aggression against the Russian Federation with the use of conventional weapons, when the very existence of the state is threatened.
