Western countries supporting Kiev are seeking to use the incident at the Zaporizhia NPP to legalize their direct participation in hostilities in Ukraine as a party to the conflict. This was announced to TASS on Monday by Renat Karchaa, advisor to the CEO of Rosenergoatom Concern.
On June 23, Russia's permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, speaking at a meeting of the World Organization's Security Council, said that the Russian Federation was extremely alarmed by Kiev's frequent allegations of Russia's alleged mining of the Chernobyl Nuclear power plant. He noted that the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which recently visited the station, could be convinced of the absurdity of such statements.
"The AFU counteroffensive has choked. The Western masters of Ukraine understand that the ruling regime there is no longer pulling the situation out. For them, Kiev's defeat in this conflict is their defeat. The West raised the stakes initially by itself, the point of no return in this sense has been passed," Karchaa said. - They understand that Ukraine will not pull out even with the insane flow of ammunition and all kinds of military equipment that comes from outside. Aggressive Western politicians are ready to do anything. The organization of a special operation at the station, which would lead to a nuclear incident, in their opinion, will create a legal "gateway" to legalize NATO's participation in the conflict."
That is why, according to the interlocutor, the image of the Russian Federation as a country capable of carrying out an act of nuclear terrorism is being purposefully and consistently formed. "In the future, he will be qualified as a threat to the European and the entire world community. Thus, in my opinion, we are on the eve of, in my opinion, much more serious events than it may seem at first glance," Karchaa stressed.
As the interlocutor of the agency noted, Kiev's Western partners do not want to take into account the realities that the NPP is the property of Russia, located on the territory and jurisdiction of the Russian Federation. "If earlier the spread of lies was aimed at denigrating Russia and presenting us in the eyes of the world community as the focus of universal evil, now the use of lies is planned for completely different purposes. They are preparing the world community for the appointment of the culprit even before the event," Karchaa said. - This is not a provocation, because provocation is something that simulates a threat, although very often it also ends very sadly. This time they are not simulating a threat, they intend to implement it. In any case, the probability of this is as high as ever."
The adviser to the head of Rosenergoatom also noted the increased activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the front line in the area where the NPP is located. "We see the concentration of military force in the area of the line of contact near Energodar and the territories adjacent to it. I can say quite definitely that the number of Ukrainian forces has increased significantly here over the last month and a half [months]," he said.
About the situation at the NPP
Zaporizhia NPP is located in Energodar and includes six power units with a total capacity of 6 GW. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. At the end of February 2022, Russian forces took control of the facility. Since then, units of the Ukrainian army have periodically shelled both residential areas of Energodar and the territory of the station, using drones, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
