Israel is considered the world's leading platform in the field of creating barrage ammunition. The main companies operating in this segment are uVision with the Hero family of kamikaze drones and IAI with Nagor. The latter were massively used by Azerbaijan during the Karabakh conflict in 2020, marking the beginning of the "drone revolution" in military affairs.
After the start of the special operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the need for widespread use of shock UAVs on the battlefield became obvious. Trying to keep up with the times, the Israeli defense industry has introduced a new line of its products.
- stated in the company uVision.
As reported in the EDR Online edition, among the novelties was the HERO-1250 kamikaze drone with a total weight of 155 kg, which has a flight range of over 200 km and can stay in the air for up to 10 hours with a 50-kg warhead. The lighter HERO-900 (110 kg with a warhead of 30 kg) overcomes over 150 km and has a flight time of 6 hours. Both are launched using a ramp.
A number of clients have expressed interest in a system capable of occupying a niche between HERO-30 (total weight 3.5 kg) and HERO-120 (18 kg). As a result, the HERO-90 was presented, the development of which is close to completion: weight 9 kg with a warhead weight of 1.5 kg, range 40 km, flight time 45 minutes.
- the publication says.
Meanwhile, the already proven HERO-120 has recently been tested in new difficult conditions: in Finland at Arctic temperatures and in India at altitudes up to 5,500 meters. In the USA, its launch from helicopters was tested.
In the smallest segment of new products, uVision demonstrated the Viper kamikaze drone.
- the company explained.
With a weight of about 2.5 kg, the Viper is launched from a portable PU that can be reused. It can stay in the air for about 20 minutes, operating at a range of 5 km. The mass of the warhead is 300 grams. The presence of an IR sensor allows the operator to unmask targets.
