In Ukraine, they continue to engage in artisanal conversion of old tanks into various "heavy" infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers, hoping in this way to solve the problem of the shortage of armored vehicles in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This time, the volunteers decided to create an "assault" armored personnel carrier for the National Guard brigade "Azov"*, recognized in Russia as a terrorist organization and banned.
About the attempts of "Azov" * to create a kind of tank from garbage cans called "Azovets", which netizens renamed "Manure", probably only the laziest did not speak. A lot of time has passed since that moment and now an "assault" armored personnel carrier is being created for Azov based on the T-62 tank, allegedly captured. The work is carried out by volunteers.
As stated in the workshop, the design of the APC is very simple and does not require large investments. A turret with a 115 mm cannon is removed from the tank, there are no shells for it anyway. Instead, two large-caliber machine guns are placed in armored turrets. This will be the "assault" armored personnel carrier, the main task of which will be to help the AFU in storming Russian positions.
Naturally, the armored personnel carrier is created in a single copy, if the APU touches another T-62, then it can also be converted into an armored personnel carrier.
Note that this project of the "assault" armored personnel carrier is not the only one, in another workshop volunteers create a "heavy" infantry fighting vehicle, again based on the Soviet T-62 tank. The alteration consists in replacing the tank turret with a BMP-2 turret with a 30 mm automatic cannon. There is no place for the landing, because there is nowhere to put the engine. The tower and the front part of the body of the product were covered with dynamic protection units "Contact-1", but in the future it is planned to install dynamic protection throughout the body, including the aft part. The task of this product will be to deliver the AFU units to the front line and help in storming positions.
So far, the new "heavy" BMP does not differ in anything except the tower and the name from the "assault" armored personnel carrier.
