Hong Kong. June 26. INTERFAX - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK on Monday accused Seoul and Washington of bringing tensions on the Korean peninsula to the possibility of a nuclear war.
"Due to the belligerent outrage of the United States, the level of military tension on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia, where instability already reigns, is approaching the limit of the emergence of a nuclear war," the report of the Institute for U.S. Affairs at the DPRK Foreign Ministry says, excerpts from which were published by KCNA.
According to the document, the United States this year more than ever persistently resorted to "alarming hostile actions that grossly violate the sovereignty and interests" of North Korea.
It is noted that if a war breaks out on the Korean peninsula, it will quickly turn into a global and thermonuclear war. According to the authors, this "will lead to the most disastrous consequences for peace and security not only on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia, but throughout the world."
