Putin: increasing the defense capability of the Russian Federation should not harm the economy
Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of increasing Russia's defense capability not to the detriment of economic development and fulfillment of social obligations. He stated this in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin for the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on the TV channel "Russia 1", recorded on June 21.
The Head of State said that his schedule includes regular meetings, telephone conversations, as well as discussions on issues related to the production of the military-industrial complex.
"We talk about efficiency, we talk about where and in what else we need to work, where and what is missing. We are talking about how, in what ways <...> we need to step up efforts," the president said.
According to him, such discussions are necessary so that the production of weapons goes at the right pace and in the right volume, as well as to fulfill all social obligations to the country.
"Everything should be in harmony, <...> efforts in the field of increasing defense capability should not harm the main thing. And the main thing <...> is the economy," the Russian leader pointed out.
The President also stressed that the Russian Federation feels confident and is able to implement all the planned plans and tasks.
Earlier, on June 11, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said that the enterprises of the Russian defense industry today fulfill the state defense order by almost 100%. In addition, the schedules that were approved for 2023 are even ahead of schedule somewhere.
In turn, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted on May 31 that the defense industry has increased production many times for the needs of the special operation to protect Donbass. According to him, there is a continuous improvement of samples of weapons and equipment.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
