KRONSTADT, June 22. /tass/. The unique manned underwater vehicle "Jason" will be handed over to the customer next year. This was announced to TASS by Roman Zhdanov, Deputy Chief designer of the project of JSC "SPMBM "Malachite" at the International Naval Salon (MVMS-2023).

"It's already in the hardware. At the moment, the device is being built at the production association of JSC "PO "Sevmash". The deadline is the third quarter of next year. The tests will begin to take place next year," Zhdanov said.

According to the deputy chief designer of the project, the device is designed for servicing offshore gas pipelines, as well as performing offshore underwater work at depths up to 2,250 meters. The crew of the "Jason" will consist of two people, one of whom will control the device. The second person on board is a technical specialist. "The feature of the device is the case. Unlike titanium and steel housings, it is made of acrylic material. This allows him to provide an overview of 270 degrees, that is, the crew sees everything in front of him," he stressed.

Zhdanov also noted that the deep-sea vehicle has a large number of emergency vehicles. "Jason" will be able to automatically transmit information about where it is, even if the power goes out or crew members lose consciousness.

The manned underwater vehicle "Jason" with unique tactical and technical characteristics was laid down on the "Sevmash" in June last year.

MVMS-2023 takes place in Kronstadt from 21 to 25 June. The event is organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. For the first time, the venue was the Museum of Naval Glory and the convention and exhibition center on the territory of the tourist and recreational cluster "Island of Forts". The exposition of shipbuilding and shipbuilding industries has more than 250 leading Russian and foreign participants. TASS is a strategic media partner of the salon.
