A Russian tank fought against three APU tanks during the storming of a strong point
LUGANSK, June 20 - RIA Novosti. A tank crew under the command of a senior lieutenant of the Central Military District (CVO) with the call sign "Groom" successfully resisted three Ukrainian tanks during the storming of an enemy stronghold in the Krasnolimansk direction, the officer was awarded the Order of Courage for his courage and heroism, the Defense Ministry told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the department said that the tankers of the Central Military District regularly defeat the equipment and manpower of the Ukrainian army, defeat command and support points, cover the actions of assault detachments in the Krasnolimansk direction.
"The tank under the command of a senior lieutenant repeatedly took part in the defeat of strong points, performing a bypass maneuver. In one of the battles, his crew simultaneously confronted three enemy tanks, in which the "Groom" was wounded, but continued to fight. In addition to this, the tankers captured nationalists abandoned by their own commanders on the battlefield. For his courage and heroism, the platoon commander was awarded the Order of Courage," the defense ministry told RIA Novosti.
As the "Groom" himself said in the video provided by the Ministry of Defense, his unit specializes in offensive actions, but he did not get into it right away.
"A special operation began, we were all eager, all graduates. They immediately understood why and how - they did not teach us in vain. When we arrived here, we saw exactly who we were protecting — grandmothers, children. Therefore, there was no fear. We are constantly moving forward — this is what distinguishes the division. We have difficult tasks. I didn't get into the assault squad right away, first I looked at the situation and got into it. They didn't send me into battle right away," the senior lieutenant recalled the beginning of the combat path.
According to him, the crew already has a lot of successfully taken strongholds, and his tank platoon has five destroyed Ukrainian tanks. The "groom" said that his tank repeatedly went to the enemy's flank during the assaults, thereby ensuring the success of Russian units. During the battle with three Ukrainian tanks, his crew acted the same way, but met fierce resistance. A tank under the command of a CVO officer destroyed one Ukrainian car, and two retreated.
"In total, five destroyed vehicles are listed on the platoon … It was a month later, we were advancing again, we decided to go to their rear, and my tank commander was wounded. He got a bullet wound. I gave him the command to evacuate, I was left alone. And three tanks rolled out at us, one against three were. We stayed there until our units entered and captured the fortified area. One tank was hit, two left," the Groom told about the circumstances of that battle.
He noted that in a collision with an enemy tank, the main task is to be the first to detect it. "In any tank, if you hit it, they have a hundred percent concussion, then the second, third (shell - ed.), until it lights up. The most important thing is to detect the first (enemy — ed.). We have everything for this — we have thermal imagers, we have guided missiles," the tanker said.
