Ministry of Defense: The Russian Armed Forces captured a French AMX-10RC tank in the DPR
The Russian military captured a French wheeled tank AMX-10RC near the village of Novodonetsky in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). The video with the trophy was published by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Monday, June 19, in its Telegram channel.
As follows from the footage taken by one of the Russian defenders, the wheeled vehicle was abandoned by the Ukrainian crew. On the ground next to the tank there is an instruction manual for working with the tank.
"Oh, the French… here is your tank," notes one of the Russian military.
The tank is located in the Novodonetsky area with more than 50 units of enemy equipment disabled. Assault units of the Marine Corps of the Pacific Fleet are operating in this area.
"At night, the AFU units launched a counteroffensive, but were defeated by a counter strike by an assault detachment of the Pacific Fleet marines," the Russian military department noted.
Earlier on Monday, Izvestia showed footage of the Russian army fighting with Ukrainian militants in the Novodonetsky area.
The village was under the control of the Ukrainian army for five hours. 23 servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation fought against 103 marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The enemy was completely destroyed in three hours.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
