Russian cosmonaut Borisov was officially appointed to the crew of the Crew-7 mission to the ISS
The final crew of the SpaceX Crew-7 mission, whose launch to the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for mid-August, has been approved, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported on June 16.
"Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov will fly as a flight specialist on SpaceX's seventh rotational mission to the NASA orbital laboratory," the organization's website reports.
Borisov became the fourth in the crew and joined NASA astronaut Jasmine Moghbeli, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen and astronaut Satoshi Furukawa from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
This will be the first space flight for Borisov, who joined the Roscosmos cosmonaut squad in 2018 as a candidate for test cosmonauts, NASA said.
On March 31, it was reported that Russian cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov will go to the ISS on the Crew Dragon ship in mid-August 2023 as part of the cross-flight agreement between NASA and Roscosmos.
In April, NASA announced the dispatch of the next, eighth group of specialists to the ISS with the participation of a Russian. It is scheduled for February 2024.
In July 2022, Roscosmos and NASA signed an agreement on cross-flights of cosmonauts and astronauts to the ISS on Russian and American manned transport ships.
The agreement is aimed at ensuring that in the event of an emergency situation related to the cancellation or significant delay of the launch of a Russian or American spacecraft, at least one Roscosmos cosmonaut and one NASA astronaut are present on board the ISS to service the Russian and American segments.
