Defense Ministry: Russian Armed Forces captured German Leopard tanks
Military units of the Vostok grouping of Russian troops captured Western equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in a battle in the Zaporozhye direction. This was announced on Tuesday, June 13, by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The agency also posted footage of captured equipment.
"All captured Western-made equipment: German Leopard tanks and infantry fighting vehicles (infantry fighting vehicles. - Ed.) Bradley made in the USA," the ministry's Telegram channel says.
The department noted that some units of equipment had an engine running, which "indicates the transience of the battle and the flight of the crews."
Earlier in the day, CNN reported that the APU lost 15% of the Bradley armored vehicles received from Washington. According to the Dutch portal Oryx, Ukrainian troops have lost at least 3,600 units of military equipment since February last year.
The day before, the military commander of Izvestia reported that Russian servicemen blocked the APU's attempt to attack in the Luhansk direction. The Russian Armed Forces eliminated a column of enemy armored vehicles in the area of Belogorovka.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
