Military expert Shurygin said that the AFU has enough strategic reserves for five to six days
The strategic reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) will last for a maximum of five or six more days, after which their use will become useless. On Saturday, June 10, military expert Vladislav Shurygin told Izvestia.
According to him, 30% of the AFU reserves are now involved on the line of contact. At the same time, the Ukrainian military could not even break through the first line of defense in any area.
The expert believes that the APU faces the task of conducting a large-scale offensive, and not just making a breakthrough. According to Shurygin, the result of the counteroffensive will be visible in a few days.
"If during this period they will not be able to reverse the situation on the line of contact, then they will have to move to a blind defense, and this will be a defense, as after the Battle of Kursk, when there are still a lot of forces, but the backbone is broken," he said.
Earlier, on June 9, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed the opinion that the AFU counteroffensive raises questions, and its outcome is ambiguous. He admitted that it is "difficult to explain and understand" Western intentions for a peaceful settlement of the conflict when transferring weapons to Ukraine.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in recent days there have been significant losses of Ukraine, exceeding the "classic" indicator. According to him, it can be stated that all the counteroffensive attempts have failed, but the offensive potential of the Ukrainian troops has still been preserved.
The day before, CNN indicated that the AFU had suffered significant losses in manpower and heavy equipment over the past few days. Ukrainian militants faced stronger resistance from Russian troops than previously expected. One of the two CNN sources described the losses of the Ukrainian army, including American MRAP armored personnel carriers, as "significant."
Also on June 8, Bloomberg, citing an EU source, reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had lost a significant amount of equipment during the offensive this week.
On the eve of the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the attempts of the APU offensive in different sectors of the front. At the same time, the head of the defense department pointed out that "the enemy was stopped, Russian soldiers and officers showed courage and heroism in the battles." The Minister drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian troops suffered "significant and incomparable losses."
At the same time, CNN reported that the United States and other Western countries saw signs of the beginning of the AFU counteroffensive. Ukrainian militants are trying to find vulnerabilities in the defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to make a breakthrough. The APU is probing such places due to artillery shelling and direct attacks of Russian positions. According to the channel, the enemy is forced to return to their original positions with losses.
On June 5, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said that Ukrainians are paying with their lives because of the false hopes that the Kiev regime gives them to defeat Russia.
The special operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
