The Ukrainian Air Force may receive American F-16 fighters in two to three months. Such approximate dates for Ukraine to receive American-made fighters were called by the former commander of the Polish ground forces, General Waldemar Skshipchak, in an interview with the Ukrainian press.
According to the Polish general, the AFU counteroffensive should be carried out on equipment already transferred by the West. As for the planes, Skshipchak noted that the training of Ukrainian pilots to fly them has been going on for a long time.
- stressed the retired Polish general.
Skshipchak believes that Ukrainian pilots are already ready to operate American-made aircraft. But now the Ukrainian military will have to use the available equipment in the counteroffensive. The time has come for the Kiev regime, the Polish military expert noted, to show that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are capable of resisting the Russian army.
According to the general, the prospect of further support of Ukraine by the North Atlantic Alliance depends on further success on the battlefield. Therefore, it was decided to launch a counteroffensive before the July NATO summit, which is to be held in Vilnius (Lithuania).
Despite the statements of the Polish general, the level of training of Ukrainian pilots for the operation of American fighters still raises certain questions. Although it cannot be ruled out that the West has been preparing Ukrainian pilots to fly on the F-16 for quite some time, and the terms of training of the first groups of officers of the air forces of Ukraine are already nearing completion.
