The US Department of Defense has published information about the signing of a contract with Global Military Products. The agreement provides for the supply of Gepard anti-aircraft artillery systems of German origin for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a deadline of May 30, 2024.
The order amount is more than $118 million. The American company had to buy these combat systems from Jordan, which acquired them for its army from the Netherlands in 2013. Then, for just 21 million euros, 60 sets were purchased in the Dutch version of Cheetah PRTL (Pantser Rups Tegen Luchtdoelen). It is unknown how many of them may eventually get to Ukraine.
- indicated in the Altair edition.
The Dutch modification of the Cheetah PRTL differs from the original German systems by a set of equipment. It is equipped with a target detection radar operating in the X range (range of 15 km) and a target tracking radar operating in the X/K range (operating at a distance of 13 km).
The Netherlands acquired a total of 95 Cheetah PRTL during the Cold War and decommissioned them in 2006.
