The VFU sought to crack the Russian borders with the help of NATO armored vehicles
On June 4 and 5, the Russian army stopped attempts to break through our defenses in the South Donets direction. At one of the sites, the armed formations of Ukraine managed to wedge into our positions, but they were pushed back. During the day, the losses of the VFU amounted to 300 servicemen and 56 pieces of military equipment, including 16 tanks and three American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. Experts believe that for three weeks in the reconnaissance mode, the VFU has not identified a site where it would be possible to launch an offensive with a high probability of breaking through the line of contact, and in the coming days we can expect an increase in their attacks.
Fighting in the south
On June 4, the armed formations of Ukraine attempted an offensive in the South Donets direction. On their part, six mechanized and two tank battalions were involved, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
Due to the active actions of the units of the Vostok group of forces, significant losses were inflicted on the enemy by air strikes and artillery fire in the area of the villages of Neskuchnoye in the DPR and Novodarovka in the Zaporozhye region. The VFU did not achieve their goals, and by the morning of June 5 they were thrown back to their original positions.

As sources familiar with the situation told Izvestia, the Ukrainian attack began around four o'clock in the morning. Initially, the enemy operated in two company tactical groups with the support of at least six tanks. His advance was stopped by combined strikes of Russian artillery, aviation and armored vehicles. Part of the enemy's personnel and equipment fell into minefields. Several groups of attackers were pinned down by fire and blocked.
The interlocutors of Izvestia also reported that additional reserves were put into battle around 13 o'clock in the morning. Including for the first time on the battlefield, American infantry fighting vehicles "Bradley" were seen. Three American infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed by artillery and anti-tank fire. In addition, Russian servicemen were able to liquidate several blocked Ukrainian groups, and take some of their personnel prisoner. Currently, the enemy has retreated to its original positions and is regrouping.

In turn, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering losses in manpower and equipment. Only the 31st Mechanized Brigade of the VFU lost more than 250 servicemen, 16 tanks, 24 armored fighting vehicles, including three Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. Five Ukrainian servicemen were captured.
During the day, up to 300 Ukrainian servicemen, 16 tanks, 26 armored combat vehicles, and 14 cars were destroyed in the South Donets direction.
Also, on June 5, the Ministry of Defense reported that the enemy had made new attempts to carry out attacks in the South Donets direction in the areas of the Oktyabr state farm and the urban-type settlement of Novodonetsky, introducing up to three battalion tactical groups reinforced with tanks into battle.

The enemy's offensive is successfully restrained by the active actions of units, artillery fire and air strikes of the Vostok group of troops.
In the coming days, we can expect an increase in the attacks of the VFU and the entry into battle of the main reserves, military expert Vladislav Shurygin told Izvestia.
"Under the circumstances, the stakes for Ukrainians and their Western curators are so high that they will throw all their strength into the battle and will fight with the bitterness of people who have nothing to lose," he said. — Three weeks of fighting in the combat reconnaissance mode have not revealed a site on which it would be possible to launch an offensive with a high probability of breaking through the line of contact and developing success with minimal losses. Now we have to move on to a methodical build—up of the power of attacks in order to break through the defense using the classic offensive scheme - creating overwhelming fire and numerical superiority at the point of breakthrough.
This tactic can bring success, but it quickly "burns" reserves.
"It is obvious that the offensive will not give any strategic success, at best it will be possible to advance two or three dozen kilometers in some directions, and then at the cost of huge losses and "spent" reserves," he said.
Battles near Ugledar
Our troops are currently fighting in the Ugledar direction. They were watched by the military correspondent of Izvestia, Daniil Levin.
The main goal of our tankers is Ugledar, which has been turned into a powerful fortified area by the VFU. The city is small, but it is located on a hill, there are also many high-rise buildings in which not only observation posts are equipped, but also firing points.
— We constantly keep the enemy, so to speak, in check, in strong fists. Tanks are constantly leaving for closed firing positions, firing at enemy strongholds, lightly armored vehicles, and infantry," the tank commander with the call sign Ulan told Izvestia.

— The ideal work of the crew is evaluated by several criteria at once. Firstly, the tank has completely merged with the terrain, it is not visible at all, especially from afar. The liberation of Ugledar will solve several operational tasks. The artillery strikes on Donetsk will be reduced, since it is from the landfills on the outskirts of the city that the militants are correcting the fire. It will also be possible to go to the rear of the Avdiivka VFU grouping.
The tanks are supported by the gunners of the Eastern Military District. The combat positions of the VFU help to open reconnaissance drones, after which a crushing blow follows on the enemy, including from self-propelled installations "Carnation".
Ukrainian Su-27 shot down
Units of the Armed Forces and the Border Service of the FSB of Russia on June 4 thwarted an attempt by two groups of Ukrainian terrorists to enter the territory of the Belgorod region.
At about one o'clock in the afternoon, the militants tried to force the Seversky Donets River and land near the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka under the cover of artillery shelling of civilian objects. The terrorist formations of Ukraine were destroyed by air strikes and artillery fire of the units covering the state border of the Western Military District. More than 10 terrorists, two boats and one armored car were eliminated.
During the counter-battery struggle, five Ukrainian mortar platoons were suppressed, a Grad MLRS combat vehicle was destroyed near the settlement of Volchansk, Kharkiv region, as well as two Polish-made Krab self-propelled artillery units that struck Russian territory.

On June 5, at least 880 people and 84 units of military equipment, including tanks, howitzers, self-propelled guns and armored vehicles, were lost in the special operation zone of the VFU, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
In addition, the activities of five Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were suppressed in the Kharkiv region, and the ammunition depot of the 60th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the VFU was destroyed. A Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group has been liquidated in the LNR near the settlement of Kuzmino.
In the DPR, near the settlement of Zakotnoye, Russian anti-aircraft gunners shot down a Ukrainian Su-27 fighter. Two ammunition depots of the 24th Mechanized Brigade of the VFU were also destroyed. An ammunition depot of the 126th Territorial Defense Brigade was destroyed in the Kherson region. During the day, the Russian air defense intercepted eight multiple rocket launchers HIMARS and "Hurricane". 13 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed in the DPR, Kherson and Kharkiv regions.
Save lives
On June 5, the Russian Defense Ministry told about the servicemen who showed courage and dedication in the battles.
The motorized rifle battalion under the command of Major Vyacheslav Kosarev performed tasks on the organization of defense in one of the tactical areas. When the enemy attacked the battalion's positions using quadrocopters equipped with cumulative projectiles, Vyacheslav personally destroyed two enemy drones with targeted fire from standard weapons on approach to the positions of our units.

Vyacheslav Kosarev's decisive actions deprived the enemy of the opportunity to attack the battalion's fortifications from the air and helped to hold the occupied lines.
The nurse-anesthetist of the military hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Corporal Zalina Muzayeva, as part of the consolidated advanced medical group near the line of contact provided assistance to wounded servicemen. Despite the threat of artillery raids, Zalina, risking her life, performed more than 300 anesthetic measures, more than 10 blood transfusions and blood substitutes.
This allowed 300 surgical operations to be performed on servicemen with various types of injuries, injuries and wounds, which saved their lives.
