Defense Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov said earlier that Kiev needs Taurus missiles with a range of up to 500 km
BERLIN, June 1. /tass/. The position of Germany regarding the issue of supplies of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine has not changed, it still remains restrained. This was announced on Thursday by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Cologne.
"We are very restrained, I have made this clear before. Nothing has changed in this position so far," DPA quoted him as saying.
On May 30, Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that Kiev needed Taurus missiles with a range of up to 500 km and called on the German authorities to decide on their delivery as soon as possible. Sources of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sontagszeitung newspaper noted that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, discussed the transfer of Taurus with Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a visit to Berlin on May 14.
Ten years ago, about 600 missiles of this type were purchased for the Bundeswehr, of which about 150 are ready for operation. Taurus are considered an analogue of the British Storm Shadow, which have already been delivered to Kiev. However, the range of the German-Swedish missiles is slightly longer. Local experts believe that the MBDA defense concern, in the case of the transfer of Taurus to Kiev, is able to increase their production.
