The head of the Defense Committee of the House of Commons Tobias Ellwood said that the UK should continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, despite these statements
LONDON, June 1. /tass/. The UK should continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, despite the statements of the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, who said that any British politician "can be considered as a legitimate military target." This opinion was expressed on Thursday by the head of the Defense Committee of the House of Commons Tobias Ellwood.
"We were scared by some of [Russian President Vladimir]'s comments Putin, Medvedev and others who are aimed at escalation. We need to look our opponent in the eye and support our friends in Ukraine. We have created an incredible story: we were the first to deliver Challenger tanks, after which [Germany] was given the go-ahead to supply Leopard tanks," he said in an interview with Sky News.
Ellwood noted that the UK "should be alarmed" by Medvedev's statements, but "this should not deter" the British authorities in the issue of support for Ukraine. In this regard, the deputy made an appeal to Western countries to supply F-16 fighters to Ukraine.
British Foreign Minister James Cleverley, commenting on the drone attack on Moscow on Tuesday, expressed the opinion that Ukraine has the right to carry out attacks against Russia outside its territory. After that, Medvedev said that London is actually waging an undeclared war against Moscow, which means that any British figure can be considered as a legitimate military target.
